Travelogue, published: Berlin, Germany / 2008-present
Travelogue is an art zine published by Ciarán Walsh, and involving the contributions of invited artists. With a thematic starting point offered to the contributors, the A5 format zine is composed of studio research, fragments of writing, sketches, and found text and images, and is primarily concerned with subjects dealing with movements, transformations, slippages and re-workings.
Travelogue operates within the formal formats of the 'zine': it is an economic, home-produced publication, with a small publication run, and is distributed through post, through one-to-one social and professional networks, and to be chanced upon by potential readers at a number of selected art galleries and spaces.
To date two issues have been produced: Shadow Perimeters (Sarah Browne, Jessica Foley, Dennis McNulty, Dominique Hurth, Garrett Phelan, Ciarán Walsh, Tim Stott), and Tactical Objects (Lee Welch, Uli Westphal, Robin Watkins & Nina Canell, Liam Campbell, Bek Coogan & Torben Tilly). A third issue Nomadic Places is in development for early 2010 publication, and dedicated to a specially composed 'anti-narrative' by artist Stephen Brandes.
